An access log is a text file containing an extensive report on all of the files accessed by your website visitors. All the files which were requested in one way or another will be included, so if you have a PHP script app and a visitor opens only the home page, for instance, you might find plenty of files inside the log. It is because there are elements on the home page which are embedded - parts of other webpages, pictures, etcetera. All of these files will be listed inside the access log, so that you can get a complete picture of the way your site functions. The data is in plain text format, so the logs are often termed "raw data" too. An access log provides the name of each requested file, the path to it, the date it was accessed, plus the user’s IP address, Internet browser and OS. More information, including the referrer Internet site, is oftentimes supplied too. A log file can be processed by various desktop apps for statistical purposes as an addition to the web stats supplied by your web server.

Access Log Manager in Shared Website Hosting

Our in-house built Hepsia Control Panel includes a section dedicated to various logs and the access logs are one of them. As soon as you sign in to your shared website hosting account and take a look at this section, you will find a list of all the domains and subdomains you have. All it takes to allow the generation of access logs is to press a button that'll be available next to each domain/subdomain. In case the option is enabled, you shall see a download link as well as the file size so far, so you will be able to save the file to your personal computer and look at it or process it with some program. Enabling or disabling the logs becomes effective right away, so if you no longer require one, you'll be able to stop it with a mouse click from the same exact section of the Control Panel. You will still have the ability to access the already developed content by clicking on the Download link.

Access Log Manager in Semi-dedicated Hosting

Our state-of-the-art hosting platform will generate access logs for each website hosted inside a semi-dedicated server account, assuming that this feature is enabled. All domains and subdomains that you have will be listed within the Access/Error Logs section of the Hepsia Control Panel, which we supply with all the accounts, so if you would like our system to start generating logs for any of them, you should just click on the small button on the right side of the respective domain/subdomain and change the default Off option to On. You may deactivate this function anytime by following the very same steps. You'll find a Download link for each log in the same exact section of the Control Panel, so you could save the content generated by our system in .txt format with only a mouse click. An existing log file can be downloaded even after the option has been deactivated, so you will still be able to see the data which has already been generated.
